DONATE BLOOD THIS SUMMER WHILE SCHOOLS ARE ON BREAK

Colleges and universities helped boost our nation’s blood supply this school year. Students gave more than 115,000 donations so far this year.

At these blood drives on campus’ across the country, students were very creative and did all they could to recruit young blood donors by doing things like: dressing up as “Ubie,” United Blood Services’ mascot, giving away free ice cream to donors or raffling off gift cards to coffee houses.

Students liked having everything at their fingertips; from booking their appointments online and being reminded of those appointments via email.

High school and college students provide a large percent of the local blood supply in the communities served by United Blood Services. Unfortunately we will see that number drop during the summer months, because schools are on vacation. Assuring our communities of a safe, plentiful blood supply this summer depends on successful blood drives at employers, communities, civic organizations, military bases and churches.

The folks at United Blood Services are asking people to step up and donate blood this summer either at your local blood center or at a blood drive. Need another great reason besides saving a life? All donors receive a free cholesterol test with every blood donation. Please make an appointment to donate blood today.
