Have You Got Our Number?
If you’ve recently seen one of our blood mobiles at a drive or on the streets, you may have noticed something new: we have just added a new nationwide toll-free phone number for United Blood Services.
The reason for implementing a new number goes beyond the easy-to-remember embedded phrase UBS HERO. Our goal is to make the appointment process more user-friendly and to provide more options for getting information about donations and your donor history.
When you call, the first thing you’ll notice is that all the services provided are bilingual for English or Spanish speaking donors. [For Spanish, just press 2.]
Now you will be given keypad options from 1 to 5, which are outlined below:
Press 1 on your keypad to connect to an operator who can help you with any of the following:
- make, change or cancel an appointment for whole blood or Power Red
- ask any questions regarding donation eligibility
- find out your cholesterol results
- inquire about your donor card
- ask us about our Hero in Me donor rewards program
Press 2 if you want to make an appointment for a platelet or plasma donation.
Press 3 if you are a volunteer blood drive coordinator or you would like to host a blood drive.
Press 4 if you have recently donated and you feel that for any reason your blood should not be used.
Press 5 to reach an operator if what you need is not in any of the options above.
After you make your choice, you’ll be asked to enter your zip code so that we can route your call to the most convenient call center to you. For example, Arizona donors will be routed to our call center in Tempe.
Our goal is to give you an excellent blood donation experience, which begins when you pick up the phone or connect to our website. We believe this new phone system will help ensure great customer service.
