High School Program Wrap Up

The 2011-12 school year has been a memorable one for the High School Blood Drive Challenge program.  More than 170 schools from across Arizona ran blood drives bringing in more than 23,000 donations.  High school donors maintained their position as the top contributor to Arizona’s blood supply, accounting for 1 out of every 10 donations and far surpassing any other age group of donors.

To celebrate their amazing success, blood drive committees from every high school that earned a Gold Award or higher in the challenge are invited to attend the May 8 Dbacks game.  More than 1,000 tickets were donated courtesy of the Arizona Diamondbacks, so that 66 schools could attend the game.  The winner of each division will be presented a championship banner and invited to walk on the field during a special pre-game ceremony.  Boulder Creek High School will watch as their winning UB-Tube video is played on the big screen. Williams High School will be honored for achieving 929% participation, the highest in the program.  Highland High School will also take top honors by bringing in the most total donors, a whopping 854 for the year!  Both schools will share a party suite for the evening, also courtesy of the Dbacks.

As the program wraps up for the year on May 31, we look toward the 2012-13 school year and continuing this amazing pattern of success.  Congratulations to all our 2011-12 award winners!  (Check out the list below to see if your favorite high school made the top ranks.)
